Vision and Mission statements are often maligned by the Gervais-like caricature espousing corporate twaddle to appear more valuable and important than they actually are. This is not the case.

These two statements are your key point of reference throughout the life of your current enterprise - they enable you to look back and frame your success (or lack of it) realistically against your goals at the commencement of your project. They should succinctly summarise your aspirations for the future and how you are going to get there.
